1. When was Banks Christian Academy established?
The school was established in 1983 by Dayspring Christian Fellowship. It was founded by a desire to offer sound, basic education reflecting Christian values.
2. Is Banks Christian sponsored by any organization?
Dayspring Christian Fellowship continues to be involved in the school and is its headship.
3. Is the school a charter school?
In January 2002, the school received 501c3 non-profit, private school status.
4. What church denomination is associated with Banks Christian?
We are a non-denominational Christian school. At one point there were 21 different denominations represented.
5. Is Banks Christian Academy an accredited school?
At this time the school does not have accreditation status.
5-A. Are former students of Banks Christian Academy which transfer to other schools considered successful there?
Yes. Through the years students have transferred to Forest Grove, Jesuit, Valley Catholic and others. Students typically place higher in their subjects when transferring. They have made honor roll and been valedictorians.
6. Does Banks Christian Academy participate in any national testing?
The school utilizes the Stanford Achievement test. Testing is done on a biennial basis for 3rd grade and up. The last testing cycle, our students performed better than 71% of schools (public and private) across the nation. Our Junior High students, ranked in the 85% percentile.
7. Are there other organizations that the school is affiliated with?
We are registered with the State of Oregon and are a member of Association of Christian Schools International, International Association of Christian School Administrators and Board Members.
8. What is the faculty like at Banks Christian Academy?
The teachers are dedicated to their students who ensure that the students fully realize their God-given talents and potential. Each teacher has expressed their devotion to God and love and appreciation of the students.
9. Is the curriculum used faith-based at all?
Strong Bible based curriculum is used daily for a variety of subjects. Students participate in a daily opening that begins each school day. In addition, students have Bible daily, scripture memorization and a chapel once a week.
10. What are the texts used in the classrooms?
Teachers use Abeka, Bob Jones, Saxon, ACSI, A Reason For and Positive Action.
11. Are there any extra curricular activities offered?

12. Does Banks Christian offer a sports program?
The school offers a P.E. Program but does not offer an after school sports program. However, interested students from Banks Christian participate in after school sports at area schools.
13. What is the average class size?
The average class size is 15 students. In general, class size is limited to a maximum of 18 students without an aid.
14. Is transportation available to and from school?
We offer transportation from pick up points in North Plains, Vernonia and Banks at a reasonable rate.
15. Does the school offer before and after school care?
A staff member is at the school at 7:45am to monitor students arriving for the day. Dismissal time is 3:00pm with no after school care.
16. What type of uniform does Banks Christian Academy require?
A formal uniform is not required. Students are required to dress modestly, wear a polo or collared shirt, and jeans/pants that are presentable. A more detailed dress code is listed in the school handbook.
17. What type of facilities does the school provide?
The current facility, a former elementary school, was purchased in June of 2000. It is 3 acres, with play structures, swings, outlying fields, and a large gym. There is also a computer lab and observatory.
18. Where is the school located?
The school is 7 miles west of Banks, Oregon just off Highway 26 near milepost 46.
